Confirm who is in the meeting with Singpass

Verify Reality is a Zoom meeting add-on. A host asks one participant to sign in with Singpass. After that person consents, the meeting can see their legal name. This page is the public description of that service for Singpass review.

Why Singpass is used

A Zoom display name is chosen by the participant. Regulated conversations need the name on that person’s official identity record. Singpass is also used so the people attending the call match the identities of the true participants. It is the source of that name, and of the NRIC number used to check it is the person the host expected. The add-on does not replace Zoom sign-in and does not act for the participant.

How the add-on works

On a Mac, Verify Reality opens beside the Zoom meeting. Alex Tan is the display name. Singpass returns Tan Boon Peng.

What is shown, and what is kept

  • The legal name is shown to people who have the add-on open, and once in Zoom chat.
  • The NRIC shown in the meeting is truncated to the first character and the last four characters, for example S****567A.
  • The full NRIC returned by Singpass is used to perform the check and is not written into the stored verification record.
  • If the host typed an expected name or NRIC, that value stays on the verification session so the result can be marked as a match, a partial match, or a mismatch. It is not posted to Zoom chat.
  • The result stays for the duration of the call. It is not removed while that meeting is still going.

Operated by Verify Reality Pte. Ltd. This site describes that company’s Zoom add-on. It is not a Government of Singapore service, and Singpass login is provided by Singpass.
